Beylerbeyi Palace
According to the famous explorer Inciyan, Beylerbeyi, which was called as the Gardens of the Cross because of a cross set by Constantinus the Great within the period of Byzantine, was used as one of the private gardens of the sultans in the period of Ottoman Empire. Current Beylerbeyi Palace was built by Sarkis Balyan, the well-known architect of the time, between 1861 and 1865 after Mahmud Il's wooden shore palace was destroyed by Sultan Abdülaziz. With its cafe and sales stands in its gardens and the historical tunnel, the paLace provides service to its guests as a museum-palace.
