Konzerthaus Berlin
The grand concert hall on Gendarmenmarkt was primarily a theatre throughout its history. Known as the Königliches Schauspielhaus, and later as the Preußisches Staatstheater, it was graced by some of the most renowned actors of the 19th century.
However, it was heavily damaged during the Second World War and left in ruins until it was rebuilt and re-opened as a concert hall, now known as the Konzerthaus and home to the Berlin Symphony Orchestra (now the Konzerthausorchester Berlin). To ensure a seat, it's best to check the schedule in advance, as the Konzerthaus is renowned for its top-rated acoustics, being considered as one of the best five in the world.
